About The Society

In 1983 Maple Lodge Conservation Society was granted a licence by Thames Water to develop and look after the nature reserve, in order to provide a safe habitat for wildlife and a pleasant and interesting place for people to visit.  Since then the Society's volunteers have worked continuously to improve the reserve in accordance with a regularly updated Management Plan.

The Society depends on its volunteers.  Without the time and effort put in by all our volunteers there would be no reserve.  So any members wanting to volunteer are always welcome.

Management Committee

The Society is run by its trustees who form the Management Committee.  The members of the Management Committee are elected annually by the members of the Society at the Annual General Meeting.

The current Management Committee is:

Trustees:

Chairman: Keith Pursall

Treasurer: Meg Harris

Membership Secretary: Sally Mulligan

Conservation Officer: Martin Parr

Health & Safety Officer: Martin Smith

Education Officer: Chris Bessant

Committee Member: Tony Hulls

Non-Trustees (Co-opted):

Minutes Secretary / Webmaster: Dave Simms

The Management Committee are responsible for managing the reserve in accordance with the Society's Constitution and Management Plan.

Joining The Society

Membership of the Society is open to anyone with an interest in conservation and natural history.

Before joining the Society all prospective members must be given a guided tour of the reserve by a Committee Member or authorised guide.  This can be arranged by contacting the Society.

After completing the tour the prospective member can join the Society by paying the annual subscription and completing the appropriate membership forms.  This includes reading and agreeing to abide by the Rules of the Society. These are included in the Membership Application Pack

Members are then provided with membership cards and informed of the key code to get into the reserve via the Clubhouse entrance. The code changes each year when membership is renewed.
